Park Lane Subway

Contemporary urban landscape of the underground walkway below Park Lane, linking Hyde Park with Mayfair.

The painting captures the lonely sight of a homeless person’s cardboard box which will act as their bed later that night. There is an ironic juxtaposition in the location of this sight. The person who has nothing, sleeping in a cold underground subway, only a few metres from the untold wealth and luxury of the people who live at the far end of the walkway in affluent Mayfair.

The painting is signed on the front and stamped on the rear of the canvas with the artist’s stamp.
